Gethsemane

Scripture

"'Father, if you are
willing, take this cup
from me; yet not my
will, but yours be done.'
An angel from heaven
appeared to him and
strengthened him."
Luke 22:42-43

Prayer

Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
However dark it be:
Lead me by thine own hand,
Choose out the path for me.
The kingdom that I seek
Is thine: so let the way
That leads to it be thine,
Else I must surely stray.
Take thou my cup, and it
With joy or sorrow fill,
As best to thee may seem;
Choose thou my good and ill.
Not mine, not mine the choice
In things or great or small;
Be thou my guide, my strength,
My wisdom and my all.
Horatius Bonar

Carry us back, dear Lord, with Thee,
To the sacred garden of Gethsemane,
May we see Thee again, while kneeling there,
Communing with God, in fervent Prayer.
May we only have love and sympathy,
For Thee, Dear Lord, in Thine agony,
We thank Thee, Lord, that you bore our guilt,
And for our sins, your blood was spilt.
The drops of blood you spilled while there,
In your agony, beyond compare,
We never can this debt repay,
Though we work for Thee, o'er all the way.
May we not slumber and sleep like they,
Who were charged with Thee, to watch and Pray,
May we work for Thee and do Thy will,
Trusting Thy hand, to guide us still.
