Easter Meditation

Scripture

"But God demonstrates his
own love for us in this:
while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

Prayer

O Lord, in your great mercy, keep us from forgetting what you have suffered for us in body and soul. May we never be drawn by the cares of this life from Jesus our Friend and Saviour, but daily may live nearer to his cross.

Captain Hedley Vicars,
killed in action at Sebastopol

Even as Easter time draws near,
Along with it's hope and songs of cheer,
I see the Cross, with arms stretched wide,
On which our Saviour bled and died.
It grieves my heart how He suffered there,
In agony beyond compare,
Despised, rejected and spit upon,
Our Precious Lord, God's only Son.
It is a debt, we can't repay,
That for our sins, He died this way,
May we seek each day, to work for Him,
And never let our lights grow dim.
