Scripture
"The Lord liveth; and
blessed be my rock;
and let the God of my
salvation be exalted."
Prayer
Almighty and everlasting
God,
who,
of
thy
tender
love
towards
mankind,
hast
sent
thy
Son,
our
Saviour
Jesus
Christ,
to
take
upon
him
our
flesh,
and
to
suffer
death
upon
the
cross;
Mercifully
grant,
that
we
may
both
follow
the
example
of
his
patience,
and
also
be
made
partakers
of
his
resurrection;
through
the
same
Jesus
Christ
our
Lord.
Amen.

At this Lenten season, it brings to mind,
What our Lord did suffer, for all mankind,
I think of the blood drops, in Gethsemane,
Of the kiss of Judas, given deceitfully.
Of the sleeping disciples, who were to watch and pray,
When seized by the mob, they fled away,
I think of the mockery and farce of a trial.
Of Peter's weakness and even denial.
I think of His patience, the scourging He bore,
Of the crown of thorns on His head He wore,
Of the big heavy cross, sinking 'neath its load,
As He toiled and struggled up Calvary's road.
How the cruel nails pierced His hands and feet,
The heartless mob, thought He suffered defeat,
But God had the last work, as He always will,
And it knew no defeat on Calvary's Hill.
Though He suffered and bled and truly died,
The grave couldn't hold Him, tho' fastened inside,
An Angel came, rolled the stone away,
He came forth to live, forever and aye.
And now He lives with God on high,
He'll reign forever and never more die,
All praise and honor and Glory shall be,
To our Saviour and Lord, throughout eternity
